We require our patients to pay their portion when they make an appointment with the doctor or hygienist for treatment. We can estimate the out of pocket based on how your plan is written so it is a good idea to come prepared with a copy of your benefits. Remember that any estimate we give you is just that, an estimate. Even when the insurance companies do a pre-determination of benefits there is a disclaimer on the form that states that any information given is an estimate. Usually we are accurate, but when dealing with insurance carriers the only way to know for sure is to submit a claim and read the EOB! We expect our patients to take an active responsible role with their insurance carriers.
